Narrative film making refers to the types of movies that tell a story. These are the films most widely screened in theaters, broadcast on TV, streamed in the internet, and sold as DVDs and Blu-rays.
Genre's are the different types of films or TV Series there are. For example, if a film is scary, mysterious and leaves suspense its a thriller.
With my knowledge on Narrative and Genre, I can create my own successful film. I will be able to use different techniques used in different genres in my film, depending on what the genre or narrative is.
3 Main examples of Genres are;
Thriller
Thriller is a broad genre of literature, film, and television programming that uses suspense, tension and excitement as the main elements. Thrillers heavily stimulate the viewer's moods giving them a high level of anticipation, ultra-heightened expectation, uncertainty, surprise, anxiety and/or terror. Thriller films tend to be adrenaline-rushing, gritty, rousing and fast-paced. Literary devices such as red herrings, plot twists and cliffhangers are used extensively. A thriller is a villain-driven plot, whereby he or she presents obstacles that the protagonist must overcome.

Comedy
Genre of dramatic literature that deals with the light and amusing or with the serious and profound in a light, familiar, or satirical manner.
Drama
A composition in verse or prose intended to portray life or character or to tell a story usually involving conflicts and emotions through action and dialogue and typically designed for theatrical performance
